Violence should not follow victory

10/16/03 - Tonight the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees will play to determine who will face the Florida Marlins in the World Series. This is a very exciting time for fans of both teams and we as a student body must ensure that the game does not result in violence.

The Red Pill: God is not against sex

By Kimberly Rau and Tim Harper

10/16/03 - Oh no. The Christians are going to talk about sex. Everyone put on your prayer shawls, button your collars and don't forget the iron chastity belts. Here we go! The big myth is that Christianity is anti-sex. Sex is not to be enjoyed. Sex is a volatile, dirty thing and the only reason two people ever consider hooking up is to make more little Christians who will undoubtedly grow up taught to be as sexually repressed as their parents.

With access comes responsibility

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, After reading your editorial entitled "Better student access to Ryan Center needed" on Oct. 9, I found myself pondering your final statement: "...it is difficult for the students and the university community to consider [the Ryan Center] our own, and part of our community.

Cigar wrong about renewable energy

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, This letter is in response to the Oct. 8 article entitled, "Wind Turbine Proposed for Bay Campus," which included some inaccuracies about the renewable energy project. Students should refrain from mob mentality

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, I am a student at this university and I am from Boston. So of course, I am a Red Sox fan. I love the Sox, and the initial chanting "Yankees suck" and "Let's go Red Sox" is what brought me out those two nights of rioting. I was definitely excited after the Sox pulled out the victory against the A's and when they overpowered the Yanks in game 1.

It's Colombia, not "Columbia"

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, A country of "30 million people" deserves to have its name spelled correctly by the Cigar. In the story published on Oct. 15, your reporter misspelled the name of the South American nation 10 times, and misspelled "Columbian" twice, including in the headline.

No victim in marijuana use

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, Your letters on marijuana legalization are outstanding. It is ironic when people write the Cigar and use tobacco as a crutch for not legalizing marijuana. My mom smokes tobacco everyday and has for over 58 years all the while being a great mother.

Thank you, Mr. Policeman

10/16/03 - To the Cigar, I would like to offer the following suggestions to anyone who felt uncomfortable by the police presence on campus during the most recent baseball game. First note this was not a "Protest against sending troops into Cambodia at Kent State." This was a game.
