11/30/06 - UCLA police tasered a young man for five minutes before they dragged him out the main doors of the library. While he screamed in pain and frustration, the officers picked him up and forced him to do what he had originally protested doing. When another student asked one of the officers for his badge number, the officer threatened to give him the same treatment.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, I thought it would be of interest to you to hear my tale of parking at URI. I have commuted to URI for six years and have never bought a parking sticker. Why? It is cheaper not to. And even if I were to buy a sticker, it would do me no good at all, as that would make my car an outstanding target for Parking Services looking for people with the wrong sort of sticker.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, First, I would like to humbly thank you for including this letter in your publication. I wish to describe a little scene that took place Nov. 28, a scene in which I played a supporting role. It all started the night before, when I couldn't find an available parking space in the main University Terrace lot.
11/30/06 - Turn to the weekly campus police report in the Cigar and see undeniable proof that petty crimes are a reoccurring problem at the University of Rhode Island. For example, this week's police log reported a number of license plates stolen from the Dairy Barn parking lot between Nov.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, Welcome back from the Thanksgiving holiday. In this time of thanks and as the holidays are quickly approaching, we can't forget how lucky we as college students are. We are the privileged. We as students have the world at our fingertips.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, In Tuesday's Cigar, a letter to the editor by Miss Hughes from the Women's Studies Program at URI was printed. The title to her letter accused the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, about to open here at URI, of "numbing" and "telling lies" to Rhode Islanders about the reality of sex trafficking.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, I must applaud Donna M. Hughes for her letter in the Nov. 28 Cigar (Whorehouse numbs Rhode Islanders to sex slavery) in which she harpoons URI Theatre for their production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas a vastly unrealistic show in which prostitutes are empowered and ordinary people break into song spontaneously.
11/30/06 - To the Cigar, Usually something that perturbs me enough to write a letter to the editor is another letter. But on Wednesday, I couldn't help but twitch/continuously jab myself with a pencil while reading about the folk group's "social activism" colloquium.
