04/24/07 - Indie-rock band This Providence brought the house down Tuesday night despite questionable weather and a half-filled Edwards Auditorium that stank of stale cigarettes and teen spirit. Looking around the auditorium, there were three kinds of attendees: hardcore emo kids, super preppy girls and pre-teen teenyboppers with martyred-looking fathers.
04/24/07 - Strong performances by Kristen Casey, Joseph Kidawski, Leah Kolb and Nick Foehr brighten an otherwise wordy adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice Saturday night at Will Theatre. The problem when evaluating Pride and Prejudice is its 19th century setting and lack of action.
04/24/07 - Pride and Prejudice is a classic Jane Austen novel, and it is considered to be one of the first romantic comedies. "Romantic comedy" is one phrase I've come to loathe. The phrase conjures up images of Hugh Grant accidentally meeting a beautiful woman, falling in love, losing the girl and gaining her back in a cliché-filled 90 minutes.
