04/25/08 - The University of Rhode Island's Corner Store in Hope Commons Dining Facility was recently recognized by the National Association of College and University Food Services with "the best in the business" award for the store's large inventory. The 1,547-square-foot space is the only store in the nation to receive the honor, which the store earned because of the 1,400 items it offers to students.
04/25/08 - After an accidental kitchen fire left three University of Rhode Island sophomores essentially homeless, administrators at the university and one sorority banded together to help get the girls' lives back on track. The April 1 fire damaged about $25,000 worth of belongings and left $75,000 worth of damage at the 31 Joy Lane residence in Bonnet Shores, according to a police report.
04/25/08 - The University of Rhode Island has received a record 2,750 applications from upperclassmen seeking on-campus housing next semester. Director of Housing and Residential Life Chip Yensan said yesterday that the department expects to house at least 2,700 freshmen next year.
04/25/08 - With a nearly full-house yesterday and a line stretching along Ranger Road, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci of "Mythbusters," a Discovery Channel show, discussed their experiences last night in Edwards Auditorium. Amid uproarious laughter, cheering, shouting and even one marriage proposal from the crowd, the two Mythbusters fielded questions from the audience.
