Rams stepping up game despite loss against Duke

11/19/08 - On Sunday afternoon in front of a national audience, the University of Rhode Island Rams fell inches short of doing something incredible. In a game against the Duke University Blue Devils at the vaunted Cameron Indoor Stadium, URI lost by just three points and gave the fourth-winningest men's basketball program of all-time as much as it could handle.

Rhody seniors hit end of road with Fordham University win

11/19/08 - The University of Rhode Island women's volleyball team dropped its final game of the year against Fordham University, 3-1. It was senior night for URI, and a traditional ceremony was held honoring the team's three seniors before the game. The seniors, Peggy Doino, Chinny Okpara, and Jillian Bekke, started the match.

Men's soccer ends season on losing note

11/19/08 - The University of Rhode Island men's soccer team completed its season Thursday with a loss to the University of Dayton, 3-2, in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Sixth-seeded Rhode Island (8-8-3 final record) started the scoring when freshman Erkko Puranen found the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season in the ninth minute.

URI women's basketball falls to Terriers, rebounds with Siena College victory

11/19/08 - The University of Rhode Island women's basketball team won its first game of the season Monday, after falling just short in its opener Friday afternoon. After losing to Boston University on its home floor, 50-45, URI bounced back on the road with a 66-60 victory against Siena College.
