Summer 2009 - The University of Rhode Island women's club hockey team took home its sixth consecutive Eastern Collegiate Women's Hockey League championship this past March at the Boss Ice Arena. The Rams defeated Pennsylvania State University, 4-1, in the semifinals and then the University of Massachusetts, 4-1, continuing their long reign of dominance at the top of the conference.
Summer 2009 - By Brandon Gearing When Derek Peterson was a sophomore in high school, he wasn't on the school's track and field team. In fact, he only joined the team to stay in shape for basketball season. Some of Peterson's friends already on the team begged their bulky classmate to join and, after considering the benefits, Peterson accepted.
Summer 2009 - By Christopher Smith A couple months removed from her home country of Ireland, Kayla Sheehan is adjusting and performing well for the University of Rhode Island women's track and field team. Sheehan is a freshman sprinter all the way from Waterford, Ireland.
