11/5/09 - With the rising concern of the H1N1 virus, University of Rhode Island students have been advised to stay away from others when they develop flu-like symptoms. At the start of the semester Health Services sent out letters to teachers and students urging them to stay home or in their dorms if they feel ill.
11/5/09 - Magic tricks, acoustic guitar performances and tap dance were some of the student entertainment at Rhody's Got Talent, a fundraiser to support epilepsy awareness held last night in the University of Rhode Island's Edwards Auditorium. The Matthew Siravo Memorial Foundation hosted the event to get the word out about epilepsy, which is a widespread disease of the brain.
11/5/09 - Last night, English professor Donald Revell talked about giggling while writing poetry. It was something, he said, that embarrassed his son when his friends were over. But the giggling was in response to the new discoveries Revell said he made as he wrote his poetry, some of which he shared last night with University of Rhode Island students and faculty.
11/5/09 - University of Rhode Island students are now capable of expanding their knowledge of the Bible through URI Junior Ben Moore's biweekly Bible study classes. Meeting Tuesday night in the Multicultural Center lounge, Moore, along with eight students, began the first of a series of Bible studies directed increasing awareness of the Bible's message.
11/5/09 - The Student Senate re-recognized the University of Rhode Island's Underwater Hockey Club Wednesday, after the group eased concerns about a sport that requires its players to hold their breath. The club was one of 74 organizations re-recognized, but the only one to appear before Student Senate to make its case.
