Amanda's Brush With Celebrity: Peyton Manning has a large forehead

02/07/07 - So maybe being in marching band made me a geek in high school, but it made me a geek who was able to meet Peyton Manning. As I have mentioned before, I live just a few miles from Gillette Stadium. In 2004 the Patriots asked the Franklin High School music department to participate in the home opener band performance for the team's game against the Colts.
Now, the job of the music students was to simply hold flags out on the field while Lenny Kravitz performed, and we were not supposed to interact with the players at all. However, after the halftime performance, many of the players were mingling around.
Of course, everyone wanted to meet Tom Brady, but I was more interested in the absolutely gorgeous Peyton Manning. I was so excited to see the love of my life in person! Relatively few words were exchanged, but just in case you were wondering, yes, his forehead is really that big.
When I finally got over the fact that I was just feet away from Manning, I managed to say, "Hello," followed by, "I think you're a really great player." I may have also thrown in a good luck.
I was still too stunned to say much. He thanked me and smiled. The Colts lost 27-24 and since I am a Pats fan I was happy, but I was even more excited to have met Peyton.
