09/13/07 - For all horror fans out there, Rob Zombie's Halloween is a movie you simply cannot miss. Taken from the original Halloween, this remake is a masterpiece in the horror world. What I love most about this movie is that it stays true to the cult classic, but with a sick twist only Zombie's mind could produce.

All my favorite parts from the original were kept, and some new parts were added that gave it an extra twist. Ever since seeing the original Halloween, I've had a desire to know more about the silent creature behind the mask. Zombie provides great insight into Michael Myers' (Daeg Faerch) mind from the beginning.

The movie begins with a look into Myers' dysfunctional family life. Myers' mother (Sheri Moon Zombie) and his baby sister, Boo, are the only people Michael seems to respond to. It is easy to understand Myers' disdain for his mother's boyfriend Ronnie (William Forsythe) and older sister since they both abuse him.

As one can imagine, Myers also had a difficult time at school. Two main bullies target him because of his mother's job as a stripper. In an altercation with these bullies, Myers' mother is called into school and introduced to Dr. Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), a child psychiatrist.

It becomes apparent that Myers has been torturing animals - an ominous sign of things to come. On his way home, he sees one of the bullies and his impulse takes over. Michael beats the bully with a tree branch until he stops moving. He returns home with the taste of blood in his mouth.

It is Halloween night and Myers wants his sister to go trick-or-treating with him, but he is forced to go alone when his sister goes upstairs with her boyfriend. A distraught Myers comes home miserable and angry. Now that he knows he has the potential to kill, Myers starts with his biggest tormentor, his mother's boyfriend. Next he moves onto his sister and her boyfriend who was caught in the crossfire.

Myers is next seen with Loomis at an insane asylum. Myers has a creepy look on his face, as if nothing is wrong. Initially, Myers makes small talk with Loomis, but after a while Myers seems to break down and refuses to talk.
