09/27/07 - Two of music's greats, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello, will be performing at the Ryan Center in the University of Rhode Island for one memorable night this Saturday, Sept. 29th.
The influential artists will be here to promote various recent projects. Dylan's CD retrospective, entitled Dylan, out Oct. 2, as well as his DVD Live at Newport 1963-1965 among other projects that are due for release this fall.
Costello, meanwhile, is promoting the release of the special edition of his debut album, My Aim is True, which was released on Sept. 11 and includes live tracks from his 1977 concert at the Nashville Rooms in London.
Dylan has been an influential force in the music world since the 1960s, with award-winning albums that range from folk to pop to rock. He's been behind some of the biggest hits of the last half-century, including "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Forever Young."
Costello, whose legendary career began in the late 1970s, also has employed a variety of musical styles on his many critically acclaimed albums, ranging from country-folk to rock. His hits are just as musically varied and include "My Funny Valentine" and "High Fidelity."
Promising newcomer, Amos Lee, whose contemporary, soulful music has garnered him an increasing amount of attention from the music community, will join these two legendary artists. Lee's eponymous debut was released in 2005 and his sophomore effort, Supply and Demand, was released last year, both to high critical praise.
Tickets are currently on sale at the Ryan Center Box Office and www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices range from $35-$69.50 and URI students, faculty and staff will receive a $5 discount with a valid URI ID.
