10/11/07 - The new 50 Cent CD, "Curtis," dropped into stores on Sept. 11, 2007. The media exploded over the question of whose album would sell better: Kanye West's or 50 Cent's? It has been a battle of the talents as to who can top the billboard charts and work their way up the Top 10 artists list in the iTunes music store.

But don't bash 50 until you hear a few songs from his new album. Collaborations from Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, Mary J. Blige and Akon are just a few of the top named artists available on this CD.

"I Get Money," is yet another smash hit that 50 produced. This song caught my attention, with lines like, "I used to sell dope, I did play the block / Now I play on boats in the south of France Baby, St. Tropez." 50 is doing his thing and spending the money he has, rising out of the streets to be a well-known and respected rapper.

With success comes rewards, and this is evidenced by how out-of -control his vacations are. His life, which was not that good to begin with, is now something of luxury.

"Follow My Lead," is definitely a slower tempo for 50, and he collaborates with Robin Thicke. The song has a nice piano effect going on in the background and it isn't a loud and extreme rap song. It has the feeling of a night out at a low-key lounge.

"Straight to the Bank" is another song people can't get enough of. "No more platinum I'm wearing gold / I'm internationally known as the kid with the flow," Fifty raps. It's almost like an inside look at 50's bank account and explains how he has so much money from being so successful.

Sounds cocky, but it's not. The beat and energy makes it one that you'll be listening to on repeat on your iPod.

Not forgetting where he came, from 50 shows he still has street creed on "Ayo Technology," the song that probably represents this album the best. This over-played radio hit (that will never get old) starts off with the line "Something special, Unforgettable, 50 Cent (cent), Justin (tin), Timbaland (land), god damn (damn)."

Those artists scream talent and he displays how they are a part of this hit song. Although 50 Cent might not "be making you stronger," he sure can "take you to the candy shop" with this album. From those few named songs and ever-present collaborations with the hottest artists of today, he certainly made an album that will be played over and over. 50 is here to stay.
