Rhody lost Game 1, 4-1. URI Freshman pitcher Stacey Stanovich kept the game close, but was charged with the loss after giving up nine hits and four runs during her six innings of work. Relief pitcher Danielle Lovino earned her first win of the season for the Stags, allowing five hits and one run in five innings. URI received a 10-2 drubbing in Game 2, where nothing came easy for senior pitcher Jill Anderson, who took the loss after being knocked around to the tune of 11 hits and 10 runs in 5.2 innings on the mound.
URI didn't find the pickings to be any easier in Game 1 at Providence, where they were ousted by a score of 14-1 on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Leah DiBussolo provided the sole offensive spark for URI, driving in their only run of the day. Rhody found itself on the wrong side of a heartbreaker in Game 2, losing by a score of 4-3. DiBussolo once again led the way for the URI offense with 2 RBIs in the contest.
The Rams are all but eliminated from A-10 tournament contention and will be playing for pride when they finish up their home schedule on Thursday with two games against the Boston College Eagles, starting at 3 p.m.
