Letter: Reader pleads with students

This is to all Republicans. I don't want to fight with you or wage a battle over ideology. I'm not interested in who wins a popularity contest. I'm interested in this country's future. I don't care who looks more patriotic or religious. I care about America.
Your party played a mean trick on you all. While promising lower taxes for you, they gave lower taxes to their rich friends. Middle and lower classes actually pay more taxes than they did eight years ago. Republicans have been in control for eight years while the economy tumbled and oil billionaires became disgustingly wealthy. Jobs have evaporated. Pollution is worse all over America than ever before.
Why? Because they don't care, they just want to win the contest. They care about wealth and winning elections. Most of the Republican leadership is composed of billionaires, and OIL billionaires. They're making money at OUR expense.
Please, I send this plea to the PEOPLE of the Republican party. On this day, of all days, it must be understood that we can't let fear and pride dictate our lives. These liars and thieves fooled us all.
They will say and do anything to get elected. They are politicians after all. No matter what they say, their actions betray their words. I'm not asking you to vote for Obama.
I'm asking you not to vote for McCain. I'm asking you to take control of your party back from the con artists. Let's make the word "Republican" honorable again. It's all in your hands. Make America proud again.
