Alumnus pleased with Career Services
Issue date: 9/19/08 Section: Editorial/Opinion
09/19/08 - To the Cigar,
In response to your editorial about Career Services being an underused asset, I wholeheartedly agree.
I did not use it much during my earlier years at URI, but during my internship studies we had a lot of assignments geared towards hitting up Career Services for information. In the end, I attended one of their job fairs, submitted my resume to a dozen companies and was hired about a week before graduation to a salaried management position at Ocean State Job Lot!
Even, or rather especially in this economy, students should be taking full advantage of what Career Services has to offer. I doubt I would have attained such a good job had I not attended the Job Fair and taken advantage of Career Services resources such as resume building. Thank you, Career Services, for helping me become successful so early on!
