10/29/08 - Coming off a two-game sweep and winning the last seven out of eight games, the Rams dropped to 7-3 after losing to West Chester University, 7-2 and 6-1, last weekend.

Even though the Rams outshot the Golden Rams in Friday and Saturday's games, they couldn't get any shots in the back of the net. The Rams were outscored 13-3.

"We have had trouble scoring goals, the puck didn't bounce our way this weekend. We didn't have a lot of scoring opportunities," said coach Joe Augustine of the team's lack of scoring.

Junior Andrew Lisi started in goal for Rhody, and Corey Hackney was in goal for the Golden Rams.

The Rams couldn't get the offense started on Friday, and the team was trailing the Golden Rams from the first period. West Chester scored in every period, with one goal in the first, four in the second, and two in the third. Lisi was busy the entire game, stopping 28 of the 35 shots he faced.

Senior Ben Harring scored the only goals for the Rams, coming at 11:10 and 4:47 in the second period. Harring now has five goals for the season.

Saturday night's game was more bad news for the Rams after once again out-shooting West Chester but still having no success.

The Rams jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, thanks to freshman Richie Falasca, who scored at 13:16 in the first period. The Golden Rams answered right back when Patrick Johnson tied the score at 7:39.

The Golden Rams highlighted both the second and third periods. Dave Bixler, Robert Bushman and Chris Campli all contributed to goals in the second period while having 14 shots. The second period was the only period in both games that West Chester outshot Rhode Island.

Bushman and Mike Longo were the only players to score for West Chester during the third period. Bushman had two goals and an assist in the game.

Lisi, who started in goal, stopped 18 out of the 24 shots coming his way, but was replaced by senior goalie Ray Martin. Martin stopped all nine shots his way.

"We might switch some minor things, but nothing major," Augustine said. "We just have to go over our mistakes and stay positive."

The Rams are now 7-3 and will look to improve their record against the tough University of Delaware this weekend at the Boss Arena.

"We need to put these two losses aside and learn from this hard lesson. We can't dwell on it because we need to be refocused for this weekend's games," said Augustine.
