Grammy Awards showcase awkward performances

02/10/10 - I think that the Grammy Awards are my favorite awards show-well they were until this year. What is better than a night full of performances, seeing your favorite performers all in one room (unless they are arrested for beating their special girl the previous day…cough Chris Brown cough, cough), and getting a view of music in history?
But this Grammy Awards ceremony was different. Maybe all of the stars should have been arrested the day of the Awards Show, because it seemed that no one showed up on their A Game.
In fact the whole night came off as just pure awkwardness.
Here is the list of the most awkward moments in case any of you missed it:
Dwayne Johnson, formerly known as "The Rock," kicked off the show by reciting the lyrics to Kate Perry's song, "I Kissed a Girl." He then went off onto a rant about how he saw Kate Perry earlier…and no one really got the joke.
Following Johnson, Justin Timberlake appeared to make an inspiring speech about his life in Tennessee before he became famous. Timberlake made his best effort at being a comedian as well as he tried to make a joke about the "general store" in his town- but no one laughed. Don't try to become the next Jay Leno, Mr. Timberlake.
Timberlake then had a follow-up awkward moment as he performed with the Great Al Green, and that was just the beginning of the collaborations that didn't work.
Duffy and Green attempted to duet a piece of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and ultimately butchered it.
Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers… enough said.
Paul McCartney with the Foo Fighters-McCartney couldn't hold it together or bust a move quite as well as Bruce Springsteen at the Superbowl just a week ago.
MIA's very pregnant performance (on her due date) with Sean Combs, TI, Jay-Z and Little Wayne couldn't even avoid awkwardness, but maybe that was because of the special effects crew who decided that the viewers at home should watch the performance in black and white as opposed to color.
