Jason Mraz plays "The Remedy" at the Ryan Center in last night's performance

02/13/09 - Two weeks ago, Jason Mraz performed on Saturday Night Live. Just under a week ago, Mraz appeared at the 51st Grammy Awards Ceremony. And last night, Mraz rocked the Ryan Center at the University of Rhode Island.

Wearing his signature hat, polished white shoes, jeans, and a simple T-shirt, Mraz entered the stage from the right with the rest of his band, and he made his presence known to the crowd composed of URI students, children, parents and teenagers from near and far.

Even when slow songs came on, the overall rush of the show never deflated. Mraz gave a solid 90-minutes, showcasing his talents ranging from dynamic vocals to being able to tap his head while rubbing his belly.

He had clearly come to perform.

Mraz opened up the show with "Make it Mine," which is a song off of his latest album, We Sing We Dance We Steal Things, and then broke into an older hit, "The Remedy," which brought the crowd to its feet.

Mraz showcased not only his vocals here, but also his moves as he danced around the stage to his band playing the background beat.

As the song got to its second chorus, it was clear that this wasn't "The Remedy" fans may have recognized from his earlier stuff.

It was an enhanced version full of rolling R's, rounds and reverberation.

Near the end of the remix, Mraz added a twist to the song by completing it with a round of "Wonderwall" by Oasis-a song that the crowd had no complaints singing along to.

Following "The Remedy," Mraz broke for a second to speak to the crowd.

He asked if people had come with their best friend, and continued by saying that some of the concertgoers may have come to the show with their loved ones, and others might be with a friend who they wish to say, "From one friend to another, will you touch your tongue to mine."

With that being said, Mraz began the song "If It Kills Me," which was paced much slower than "The Remedy," but Mraz managed to keep the crowd hanging on his every word.

As the song came to an end, the lights changed to a dull green, and the new beat revealed a mysterious vibe that Mraz moved slyly to.
