Student encourages readers to act on political urges, 'round up troops'
Issue date: 4/17/09 Section: Editorial/Opinion
04/17/09 - To the Cigar,
I cannot believe that you all decided to do a story on the tax day tea parties that were covered all across the nation and did not even bother to question the actual students on campus who were taking part in this event.
Your story is the slanted one.
Don't ever cover a story that you know nothing about, and as an educated college student I feel as if you should have learned that getting your news from FOX and CNN are not reliable (nonpartisan) choices.
The tea parties were held across the country not for the GOP--for no republicans at all.
Hence the words of "nonpartisanship" quoted from every Web-site of the organizations that put this on.
The states created the federal government as an agency to help run the country, not the other way around so when central government abuses its power it is the right of the people to step in and change that.
The Federal Reserve Bank (which is not a part of the federal government) prints money any time we ask in exchange for a type of "IOU."
Our federal officials have abused this resource and quite frankly it is not a resource at all, our money has nothing to back it up and the Federal Reserve is doing nothing but making matters worse.
Vote HR 1207.
Call your senators to bring transparency to the Federal Reserve and quit letting a private bank run the show.
Do your homework.
Young Americans for Liberty had been planning this event for months on our campus. If you would have paid attention you would have seen us mocking former President George W. Bush and Barack Obama's presidency at our booth. So, Ryan Drugan, don't go asking where were we during the Bush years, the movement was there but if you recall correctly these massive spending bills did not hit home until Bush's last year.
As you are all familiar you can't round up the troops rapidly when you have no access to mainstream media outlets, this movement relies solely on Internet Web-sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and other social connection sites.
Quit trying to blame the GOP, we are already doing that's not going to work this time. Just suck it up and fight with us, because you are getting robbed too.
