Being skanky only comes once a year

10/30/09 - Halloween is a time when children bob for apples, carve pumpkins and dress up as ghosts and witches, and it's the only time college girls can get away with dressing skanky.
Initially as kids we wanted to have the scariest costume on the block and ring our neighbor's doorbells only to frighten them. We also wanted the candy. Now our goal is to find the sexiest costume rather than the scariest. Why is this? Well because it's fun.
This brings me back to the movie "Mean Girls" when Lindsay Lohan acting Cady Herring, didn't exactly get the skank memo, and showed up at a high school Halloween party dressed as an "ex-wife." She wore a ragged bridal gown covered in streaks of blood, white face make-up and fangs.
Sexy playmates, kittens, cheerleaders, and even a sexy mouse surrounded her as she entered the party. Her crush even spit out his drink in complete horror. The funny part is this movie truly represents Halloween for high school and college kids. If you're a girl that's 18 or older be sure to keep it skanky and not scary.
This is the one and only chance we have to not dress classy and people will still compliment our outfits. If you wear a low-cut top, short shorts, something that shows your stomach or anything that's so tight you can just barely breathe, your outfit is sure to be a hit. And if you're really feeling crazy be sure to accessorize with fishnets, high heels or even your typical "Pretty Woman" prostitute boots.
When Halloween is about to approach, girls are on a hunt to find not only the sexiest costume, but also the most original. Not too many succeed in this however. There's always your typical police officer, firefighter, superhero, and cowgirl. If you go to a Halloween party you'll be sure to find at least one of each of these costumes in the room. Honestly though it wouldn't be a party without these costumes. Dressing skanky without actually being called a "skank" only happens once a year, so we have to take advantage of it.
Boys on the other hand aren't expected to dress a certain way. They wear a Scream mask and call it a day. Boys can wear anything from a football jersey to a red M&M costume.
This idea doesn't exclude girls however. I personally love when girls take the funny route and show up with a sheet over their head and call themselves a ghost, or slip into a bulky pumpkin costume. So if you want to be a pumpkin for Halloween the more power to you, but the majority of you are bound to take the skanky route.
Just remember Halloween only comes once a year so take full advantage of this skanky opportunity. This is the only time we're supposed to keep it trashy and not classy. Just don't let Halloween come more than once a year.
