03/09/10 - For many people the Oscars day mean absolutely nothing. While celebrities and mega-stars were getting primped and styled for the famous award show, most of the American public, myself included, were just enjoying a regular, lazy Sunday.
Although you many have missed who won what award, and the speeches and presentations that accompanied them, the most entertaining aspect of the Oscars- or any awards show for that matter- is the fashion! To quote Joan Rivers, "Who wore what?"
Sometimes I find myself staring, mouth agape, at the breathtaking gowns and flashy jewelry, and other times I can't help but say, "What the hell was (insert celebrity's name) thinking?" Going through countless pictures from the Oscars I can safely say that I have accumulated quite a list of horribly dressed people. You would think that with millions of dollars to burn and a professional beauty crew, celebrities would always look perfect. Some of the outfits were so horrible that I actually felt bad that photographs of them would be in constant circulation, and these nice people would be forever placed on the "worst dressed list."
But, with the bad also comes some good. There were three major stars that looked breathtakingly amazing, putting most of Hollywood to serious shame.
The best-dressed list starts with the presenter of the night Cameron Diaz. While she always looks flawless and beautiful in every picture snapped of her by the paparazzi, on Sunday Diaz looked like the true Hollywood starlet that she is. She wore a sparkly Oscar de la Renta tube-top dress. It was floor-length and flowy, covered in beads and sequins that cascaded down her long frame. Her entire look was faultless-from her tan skin to the soft natural waves of her golden blonde hair, she exuded perfection.
Kate Winslet, was a major looker at the awards show as well. Winslet shined in a sleek, silver, strapless Yves Saint Laurent creation. The dress was simple but very elegant, and at first glance looked like a two-piece top and skirt combination- it was very modern and classy, paired with a $2.5 million yellow diamond necklace by Tiffany & Company. The outfit was gorgeous, especially with minimal makeup and a classic side-part.
